Before you connect

Get these in place first. They are the difference between a connection that goes green and one that fails on the first publish.

  • WordPress 5.6 or newer, served over HTTPS, with the REST API reachable.
  • An administrator or editor account, so SEOryon is allowed to create posts.
  • An Application Password. The plugin creates a scoped, revocable one for you, or you can make it by hand in Users, Profile.

How to connect, step by step

The same steps SEOryon walks you through in the app. This one runs entirely in SEOryon, so there is nothing to hunt for in another admin.

    In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins, Add New, and search for SEOryon.

    Install and activate it.

    Open Settings, SEOryon in your WordPress admin. That is the plugin's Connect screen.

    Back in SEOryon, click Generate pairing token, copy it, and paste it into the plugin's Connect box. The plugin creates the scoped Application Password for you and pairs the site, so there is nothing else to copy.

Prefer to connect manually?

If you cannot install plugins (managed host, restricted role), connect with an Application Password instead. Same result, a few more steps.

    Open your WordPress admin at yoursite.com/wp-admin and go to Users, Profile.

    Scroll to Application Passwords, type SEOryon as the name, and click Add New Application Password.

    Copy the generated password (WordPress shows it once, in the form xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx) and paste it into SEOryon with your site URL and WordPress username.

What happens when you click Connect

Connecting runs a real test publish. SEOryon creates a draft, verifies it, deletes it, and only then marks the connection healthy, so a connected badge means publishing genuinely works.

What to know about WordPress

The honest part. Every platform has edges, and you should hear about them from us before you hit them.

SEOryon writes the meta description into the post Excerpt field. Yoast and Rank Math read the Excerpt as a fallback meta description, so it works, but SEOryon does not write their dedicated fields directly.

Some cheap or managed hosts strip the Authorization header, which blocks publishing. That is a hosting limitation rather than a credential problem, and SEOryon tells you so with a specific hosting-blocked message.

  • Set one clear title and meta description per page, and stop plugins from generating duplicates.
  • Pick a single permalink structure early and never change it without redirects.
  • Compress and lazy-load images, and serve modern formats to protect load speed.
  • Limit plugins, since each one can add scripts that slow the page and muddy the markup.
  • Use categories and tags deliberately, and noindex thin archive pages that add no value.

Meta titles and descriptions

You never hand-write a meta tag again

Every platform caps these fields at a different length, so SEOryon writes them for the platform you publish on and fits them automatically.

  • Your meta title is the article title, word for word, so the tag never drifts from the H1.
  • Your meta description is written to a 150 to 160 character target with the keyword woven in, then auto-fitted to whatever your platform allows, so it never overflows the field.

On WordPress the description goes into the post Excerpt, which Yoast and Rank Math read as a fallback. On Wix and Ghost it goes into their own SEO fields. You do not have to think about any of it.
